Bangladeshi Education Minister, who is also a member of the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order , Dr Osman Farruk , in an interview with VOA in Washington has strongly defended army action in Bangladesh. He said that people of Bangladesh have welcomed this move against the criminals. Dr Farruk added that this campaign is above any partisanship and criminals irrespective of their party affiliations are being caught and punished. In answer to another question he said he expects the police would act in the same way once the army is withdrawn. He , however, did not say how long the troops are going to carry on this campaign or its effects on human rights.
