Police Identify More Bali Bombing Suspects - 2002-11-17

Indonesian police have identified six more suspects in the Bali bombings, including the alleged mastermind.

Police say all the new suspects are Indonesians. None of them has been detained so far.

Police say details of the six were given by the only suspect in custody, Amrozi, who allegedly helped build the main car bomb.

The alleged mastermind was identified as Imam Samudra. He is also wanted for church bombings in Indonesia two years ago. Police say he decided where to place the bombs in Bali, while one of his accomplices, identified as Dulmatin, triggered the bombs by mobile phone.

Police also released sketches of the new suspects, which also include a brother of Amrozi.

More than 190 people were killed in the October 12th bombings at nightclubs in Bali -- about half of them Australians.

Police say it is too early to directly link the South Asian militant group Jemaah Islamiya or the al-Qaida terrorist network to the attacks.
