Dr Kamal Hossain , a very reputed lawyer in Bangladesh , has expressed his deep concerns on the recent wave of arrests of the opposition political activists , journalists and a university teacher. In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service , Dr Hossain, himself a politician and an former Foreign Minister of Bangladesh , said that these arrests which are being claimed to have been done under section 54 are not justified. The nature of accusations against those arrested require ample proof without which the arrests are not fair.
He was critical of the traditional politics in Bangladesh where in most situation government arrests the opposition under such excuses. He said that Human Rights organisations have taken note of misuses of Section :54 of the Criminal Act in Bangladesh.
Dr Kamal Hossain, in this interview , suggested that in the wake of the recent bomb blasts in Mymensingh when the question of the national security is at stake bi partisan discussions should take place in Parliament. He urged on the government to call an emergency session of the parliament in Bangladesh.
