Third SAFF Football Championship 2003 was innaugurated in the Bangabandhu National Stadium at Dhaka. Kicking off the South Asian soccer extravaganza, Prime Minister Khaleda Zia yesterday hoped that the sporting spirit of the tournament would help further intensify the existing cooperation among the regional nations.
Besides the seven SAARC nations -- Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka -- Afghanistan is also participating in the 10-day meet at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
