The Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) in Bangladesh , M A Sayed , has once again asked for army deployment during the Union Parishad , a grassroot level local body election which started last Saturday. His previous requests were turned down by the government. After a meeting at the Election Commission , the CEC has written another letter asking for the deployment of army.
Over the last three days election has been held in 572 Union Parishad of a total number of 4,228 Union Parishads. Three people including a police personnel were killed and many people injured in violence.
