Israel has confirmed the death of four of its soldiers in the bombing of a tank in the Gaza strip.
The military wing of the Palestinian militant group Hamas claimed responsibility for the roadside bomb, which blew up the tank on Saturday . A Hamas statement said the entire crew inside the tank was killed.
Witnesses say flames poured from the tank after a huge blast just outside the Jewish settlement of Dugit in northern Gaza, near the town of Beit Lahia. Israeli helicopters were seen in the area after the explosion.
