US Secretary of State Colin Powell plans to stop in Bangladesh next week between visits to Cambodia and Jordan.
The State Department says Mr. Powell will use his short stay in Dhaka to thank Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia for her support in the war against terror. State Department spokesman Richard Boucher says the United States values Bangladesh as a voice of moderation in the Muslim world.
Before heading to Dhaka, Mr. Powell will take part in a ministerial meeting of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations next week in Cambodia. From Bangladesh, Mr. Powell heads to Jordan for talks on the road map peace plan for the Middle East.
