Democracy in Bangladesh:Problems & Prospects ( Part:12) - 2003-09-07

Sheikh Mujibur Rahman , later the founding father of Bangladesh, made a six-point demand in 1966.The demands were apparently made to ensure a complete and unconditional autonomy for Bangladesh . While some scholars feel that if these demands were met , Pakistan would not have disintegrated, others claim that the demands themselves were like the Charter of Freedom , a prelude to independence and two wings of a country , geographically a thousand mile apart, could not stay together with such a wide autonomy.
