In a roundtable discussion titled, Indian Elections: Regional Peace and Security the speakers said that the peace process between India and Pakistan which began under the previous Indian leadership could now slow down and it might take some time before the new leaders gain grounds with their counterparts . They also felt that Election results have surprised many in the US and elsewhere. The main speakers were Ashley J Tellis, former Special Assistant to the President and Hussain Haqqani , former advisor to a number of Pakistani prime ministers. The discussion was held under the auspices of Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington.
