Flood situation in the northern and central districts further worsened with inundation of more low-lying areas due to downpour and onrush of water from upstream sources. Major rivers, including the Jamuna and the Padma, are swelling on because of torrential rain and gushing waters from the upstream, aggravating the flood situation.
