A group of Islamic fundamentists is demanding that Ahmadiya Muslims should immediately be declared non-muslims and in order to press forth their demands the group tried to attack the central mosque of the ahmadiyas. The anti-ahmadiya demonstrators clashed with the police and more than a hundred people , including 3 policemen , were injured. The demonstrators have also protested against a a Bangla daily which have written against the religious persecution against the Ahmadiyas.
Two of the Islamic fundamentalists parties in the ruling coalition government in Bangladesh are also demanding that Ahmadiyas should no longer be called muslims. The government of Bangladesh, on banning publications of Ahmadiya group came under severe criticism for curbing the right to express.
