In a meeting of the party presidium held under the chairpersonship of Sheikh Hasina, the President of Bangladesh Awami League and the leader of the opposition, a decision has been taken to hold a big public rally in Dhaka on October 3, 2004. The meeting warn the government not to disrupt the meeting by repression which it did in a previous rally. The law minister has assured that there would not be any repression from the government side.
