Interim Iraqi Prime Minister Iyad Allawi has threatened to launch a new military operation in the troubled city of Fallujah, unless residents hand over wanted terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
Mr. Allawi's warning comes as Zarqawi's terror group (Tawhid and Jihad) claimed to have beheaded two Iraqi intelligence officials. The group made the claim in a grisly video posted on the Internet on Wednesday. Its authenticity could not immediately be verified.
Meanwhile, the US military says two soldiers were killed and five wounded today in a suicide bomb attack on their convoy in the northern city of Mosul.
And in Baghdad, another American soldier was killed when his convoy was attacked. Late Tuesday, three other US soldiers were killed in a similar attack.
