Dr Kamal Hossain, an eminent lawyer and a former minister of Bangladesh has alleged that the police were inactive when the members from the youth and student wing of the ruling BNP attacked them with iron rods and chairs. In an interview with VOA, Bangla he said that their meeting was totally disrupted and the members of their party helped them to make a safe passage out.He said that democratic norms were threatened by the government and people's rights were challenged. He and Dr Badruddoza Chowdhury , the former President of Bangladesh were recently attacked by allegedly government supporters while they were holding a joint public meeting of their parties.
