Palestinian officials say Yasser Arafat is in the final phase of his life after suffering liver and kidney failure in a French hospital.
But Palestinian Foreign Minister Nabil Sha'ath says Mr. Arafat's heart and lungs are still functioning on life support. He says it is very difficult to predict what will happen in the coming hours.
Mr. Sha'ath says the official funeral ceremony for Mr. Arafat will be held in Cairo and he will be buried at his Ramallah compound in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, President Bush says there will be an opening for peace with a new Palestinian leader. He says the United States will be more than willing to help so the Palestinians can have their own state living in peace by Israel.
