Hasina Fears Bangladesh Government Might take Unconstitutional Measures

Leader of the Opposition and the former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday said the government may resort to any unconstitutional way to escape public wrath. Asked if she fears any possibility of unconstitutional change of power, the Awami League (AL) chief said, that they do fear such a change. She also added that If deployed, the army would not not be able to work independently as the government will use it for political purpose and alleged that this government had deployed the armed forces in the past only to harass the opposition.

Sheikh Hasina said that the regular law enforcement agencies can tackle militancy if the government allows it to work independently and neutrally. The opposition leader rejected any dialogue with the government alleging that the government and its partners are to be blamed for the militancy in the country.
