Six Americans Among 11 Dead In Iraq Helicopter Crash

Authorities in Iraq are trying to determine what caused a helicopter carrying private security personnel to crash north of Baghdad Thursday, killing all 11 people on board. The dead were six American contractors who worked for the security firm Blackwater USA, three Bulgarian crew members and two Fijian guards.

Shortly after the crash, Bulgaria's Defense Ministry said missile fire struck the Bulgarian-owned helicopter. And the Islamic Army of Iraq claimed responsibility for the attack in an internet posting.

Another Blackwater USA employee was killed by a roadside bomb near Ramadi.

Another bomb in Ramadi killed two U.S. Marines, and U.S. troops also shot and killed an Iraqi woman in the city.

Meanwhile, Sunni, Shi'ite and Kurdish politicians are still trying to agree on members of a new Iraqi cabinet.
