Bangladesh Parliament inaugurated its first session of the year today, the 15th Session of Eighth Parliament amid boycott by the main opposition Awami League.
Awami League Parliamentarians boycotted the inaugural sitting after the Speaker rejected their demand for deferring the scheduled speech of the President in Parliament and also adjournment of the sitting after adoption of obituary reference on Shah AMS Kibria. Mr Kibria was killed in Thursday's grenade attack in Habiganj.
President Professor Dr Iajuddin Ahmed delivered his speech as the sitting resumed. The President highlighted the government’s successes, policy-achievements and future development programs.
