Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon has signed an order requiring Israeli settlers to leave the Gaza Strip and four West Bank outposts by July 20th. Mr. Sharon signed the order on Sunday after the Israeli cabinet approved his plan to withdraw the estimated 85-hundred settlers, some of whom have vowed to resist the plan. The cabinet also approved a modified route for the barrier Israel is building in the West Bank to separate itself from the Palestinians. The new route will bring the barrier closer to the internationally-recognized Green Line between the West Bank and Israel -- but will leave about seven percent of West Bank territory on the Israeli side. Palestinian leaders say Israel is using the barrier to take Palestinian land and dictate the border of a future Palestinian state.
