At least 20 opposition leaders and activists including Awami League (AL) lawmaker and General Secretary of Jubo League, Mirza Azam were injured on Saturday when police charged batons and fired teargas shells to disperse a procession of the AL's youth wing in front of its Bangabandhu Avenue office.
Police went into action as the procession tried to break through police barricade after a rally on the party office premises. They were protesting the activities of militant groups in the country, repeated grenade attacks and price spiral of essentials.
