Violence Disrupts Israeli-Palestinian Cease-fire

Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has condemned the killing of three Palestinian teenagers by Israeli troops as a violation of the cease-fire he and Israel's prime minister declared in February.

Palestinian officials say the three boys were killed today (Saturday) as they played football (soccer) near an Israeli army base. Israeli military officials say the teenagers entered an unauthorized area and ignored warning shots.

Palestinian militants agreed to abide by the truce last month. Today an Islamic Jihad leader said the group is committed to the truce for now, but would have to re-evaluate the situation.

A short while later, militants fired a barrage of mortars into a nearby Jewish settlement. No casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, in Jerusalem, tension is high, as Jewish settlers have threatened to protest Israel's disengagement plan Sunday at the al-Aqsa Mosque compound -- a site sacred to Jews and Muslims.
