London Police Ask Citizens for Photos

British police are appealing to citizens for photographs of the scenes of last week's transit system bombings. Authorities publicized an e-mail address Sunday to which people are asked to send images they may have taken with cameras or cellular camera-phones. Police believe such pictures may help identify those responsible for the bombings.

Recovery efforts continue in a subway tunnel near Russell Square. The official death toll is 49, but that number is expected to rise as workers search the debris. At Heathrow Airport Sunday, three men were arrested under Britain's anti-terrorism laws, but police say there is no cause so far to link them to the bombings. British authorities have named no suspects, although Islamic extremists claimed credit for the attacks. Also Sunday, British Muslim, Christian and Jewish religious leaders issued a joint condemnation of the attacks.
