The United States State Department issued a statement condemning the terrorist bombings that occurred throughout Bangladesh in the morning of August 17. US extended their condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives and wished a rapid and full recovery to all those who were injured. The US government also pledged to stand by the Government and people of Bangladesh as they hold to account those responsible for this heinous crime.
State department spokesperson Sean McCormack said in a press briefing that an explosion occurred near the US embassy in Dhaka but none of the Americans were injured. He also said that the Embassy has advised American citizens to be cautious and vigilant. However, the Embassy remains fully open.
