Subrarata Mukherjee, the former Mayor of Kolkata who had defected from the Trinmul Congress Party has joined the Congress Party. On Saturday afternoon he , along with four more lawmakers and nearly 200 workers of Trinomul abandoned the party and joined in the Congress Party. He rejoining the Congress Party was witnessed by Pranab Mukherjee and Priya Ranjan Dasmunshi , the two veterans from the party. Mr Mukherjee and others had inaugurated a new party called West Bengal Development Manch , just before the mayor’s election. That platform is now dissolved.
