Sri Lanka Beats Bangladesh in the First One-Day International Cricket

Captain Marvan Atapattu, Upul Tharanga and Mahela Jayawardene have all smashed half centuries to lead Sri Lanka's cricket team to 269-for-nine in its first one-day international against Bangladesh in Colombo.

Tharanga and Atapattu made the most of Bangladesh's fielding lapses Wednesday, before Jayawardene added his 50 off 35 balls to set a challenging target for Bangladesh. Tharanga was dropped twice during his 60-run tally, while Atapattu was dropped once on the way to his 55. Bangladesh bowler Syed Russel took two wickets for 42-runs in his international debut while Aftab Ahmed snared two-for-55.
