U.S. federal prosecutors have indicted a former Philippine police official for allegedly passing classified information to current and former officials in the Philippines.
Michael Ray Aquino was charged with conspiracy and acting as an unregistered foreign agent.
Investigators allege he received classified information from FBI analyst Leandro Aragoncillo, a former U.S. Marine who also worked in the vice president's office at the White House.
Both men were arrested in September and are currently in custody in (the northeastern state of) New Jersey.
While working for the FBI, Mr. Aragoncillo allegedly took classified documents related to the Philippines and passed some of them on to Mr. Aquino.
Officials are also investigating whether Mr. Aragoncillo, a Philippine-born U.S. citizen, took documents while working at the White House.
The White House says it is cooperating fully in the investigation.
