Nineteen Iraqi soldiers have been killed in an ambush north of Baghdad.
Iraqi officials say a roadside bomb exploded near their patrol in a town near the restive city of Baquba on Saturday. Following the blast, gunmen attacked with small arms fire.
On Thursday, 10 American Marines were killed near the western city of Fallujah when a large roadside bomb exploded near their patrol. Today, Arabic broadcaster al-Jazeera showed footage it said was from an insurgent group and showed an attack on a U.S. patrol near Fallujah. In the video, a large explosion engulfs a coalition vehicle flanked by troops on foot patrol.
Meanwhile, a British Muslim organization has sent a negotiator to Iraq to try to win the release of four western peace activists that insurgents are holding hostage and have threatened to kill.
