Muslim Religious Leaders in Bangladesh Ask Prime Minister to Stop Harassing Madrasa People


Muslim religious leaders or Ulemas at a separate meeting with Khaleda Zia asked the government to stop 'harassing' the teachers and students 'in the name of searching the madrasas.

Prime Minister Khaleda Zia assured the leaders that the law enforcers will not harass the students and the teachers of Madrasas. The leaders of the NGO Federations also met the prime minister and urged the government to take a tougher line on the militancy and immediately arrest the kingpins of the militants. Prime Minister Khaleda Zia assured the leaders that she would be tough on the militants. The opposition have been boycotting the dialogue with an allegation that the militants have their roots in Islamic the fundamentalist parties.
