Israeli officials have blamed the Palestinian militant group Islamic Jihad for a suicide bombing that killed an Israeli soldier and two Palestinians in the West Bank.
There was no immediate claim for Thursday's blast that injured at least nine people at a temporary checkpoint. But Israel blamed the militant group, which has launched recent attacks on Israel. Israeli officials said the bomber was planning to strike inside Israel, where security forces are on high alert amid celebrations of the Jewish festival Hanukkah.
In southern Gaza, Palestinian security forces set up roadblocks in their search for a British aid worker and her parents who were kidnapped Wednesday. There has been no claim of responsibility.
