Bangladesh Launches Massive Manhunt for Top Fugitive Islamists

More than one thousand Bangladeshi security forces have launched a massive hunt along the country's western border for two top Islamic militants blamed for a string of deadly bomb attacks.

Authorities say police, soldiers and members of the elite Rapid Action Battalion, backed by army helicopters, have raided several villages on Thursday following a tip-off that the two fugitives were hiding there.

The troops conducted door-to-door searches for the leader of the banned Jammat-ul-Mujahedin militant group, Shayek Abdur Rahman, as well as the leader of another banned Islamic group, Siddiqul Islam, also known as Bangla Bhai.

Matiur Rahman Choudhury has more on the story.
