Leaders, workers and supporters of the 14-party opposition continued on Friday marching in thousands towards the capital in spite of government intimidation in the form of arrests and harassment .
The leaders of 14 party opposition alliance have alleged that police baton-charged and lobbed teargas shells onto their gatherings at some places, with ruling coalition cadres joining in the assault in some other areas, have injured several people. Reports also say that massive arrests are being made to stop protesters from joining the grand rally of the combined opposition.
Awami League leaders have alleged that the police and some ruling cadres have joined in suppressing the pro-democratic people who have started marching from different corners of Bangladesh to join a grand rally.
The Awami League-led opposition camp has arranged the long march to press home its demands including resignation of the alliance government and holding a free, fair and credible election under a reformed caretaker government and Election Commission.
