In Bangladesh, opposition activists have held a demonstration in the capital the day before a strike to demand the resignation of of the government.
The activists gathered in Dhaka to chant slogans urging people to support Wednesday's general strike led by the 14-party opposition alliance.
The opposition has recently stepped up its campaign for the resignation of Prime Minister Khaleda Zia's government and early elections. They say the government is a failed, corrupt administration, not capable of protecting democracy.
