Main Opposition Party in Bangladesh criticizes the Government for Appointing Lobbyist


Awami League the main opposition party in Bangladesh has alleged that the government has appointed lobbyists in the US to work in their favor. In a press conference on Sunday , Awami League alleged that the four-party alliance government has appointed three lobbyist firm and it will cost them seventy five thousand dollars a month.

Awami League thinks that with the election ahead the government would use them for “election engineering”. The opposition party also says that if they do not get any explanations from the government they would raise the issue in the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Awami League Chief Sheikh Hasina’s political advisor Saber Hossain Chowdhury says that a contact was signed between the US Lobbyist companies and the Bangladesh mission on October 31, last year.

Ambassador Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury signed on behalf of the mission. Saber Hossain Chowdhury alleges that the lobbyists were not appointed to enhance Bangladesh’s trade and economic activities.
