Political dialogue between the government and the opposition on reforming the electoral system, including the reform in the caretaker government is now in a stalemate.
The ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) wants to include its Islamic fundamentalist partner in the coalition , Jamat-e- Islami to participate in political dialogue with the opposition. But the Awami League led 14 party opposition alliance has refused to take part in any dialogue where Jamat-e-Islami would be present. Jamat-e-Islami has been widely accused not only for killing the Bengalis and collaborating with the Pakistanis in 1971 but allegations have been made that party is linked with the recent spate of bomb blasts in Bangladesh .
Jama’at , however, denies the allegations.
