Indo- Bangla Trade Deficit Increases Further


The trade deficit between Bangladesh and India is increasing fast . Within the last six months the deficit has increased more than 13 per cent which amounts to more than a billion dollar. Businessmen in Bangladesh that if the amount of smuggling is taken into account, it would exceed even 2 billion dollars. Over the last 35 years the trade is completely controlled by India. The question has been raised in several Indo-Bangladesh meetings.

Dr Debapriya Bhattacharya , the Executive Director of the Centre for Policy Dialogue in Bangladesh and a renowned economist talks about the ways to come out of it.
