Lutfor Rahman Riton , a Bengali rhyme writer and poet Shahid Qauderi paid tributes to Poet Shamsur Rahman , the leading poet of Bangladesh who passed away a couple of days ago. Riton says that one of the achievements of Shamsur Rahman which is less talked about is his nursery rhymes.
He wrote superb rhymes for children and he enjoyed writing nursery rhymes. Riton regrets that as nursery rhymes do not get enough attention of the literary critics this exceptional achievement of Shamsur Rahman went largely unnoticed.
Another compatriot poet Shahid Quaderi who now lives in New York said that Shamsur Rahman displayed the sign of a big poet because he touched almost all the aspects of our lives. Quaderi said that some of Shamsur Rahman’s lines and couplets are quotable for ever. In Sanskrit , a poet means a seer and Shamsur was a real seer.
