Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Washington Bernard A.B. Goonetilleke spoke on the situation in Sri Lanka and prospect for peace, US-South Asia Relations, SAARC and Sri Lanka-Bangladesh bilateral relations.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla Service, Ambassador Goonetilleke said that his government is open to discussion with the Tamil Tigers but it needs to be done in a peaceful situation.
The Sri Lankan envoy also said that the relationship between Bangladesh and his country was excellent and Sri Lanka looked forward to flying the Lankan Airlines to Bangladesh
