In Jalpaiguri Central Jail, in northern part of the Indian state of West Bengal Prisoners have gone on Hunger Strike. Nineteen of the striking prisoners were taken to hospital after they nearly succumbed to their own action.
Some prisoners from the separatist and extremist groups have been on Hunger Strike since last Tuesday. News sources say that a strong security measure has been taken around the hospital since the militants were admitted into hospital.
