Political Stalemate in Bangladesh Continues: Dialogue is a Possibility

The political situation in Bangladesh looks grim and uncertain. The ruling four party alliance and the opposition parties, including the fourteen party alliances are still in a deadlocked position as far as the electoral reforms are concerned.

Oppositions have already issued an ultimatum on not accepting Justice K M Hasan as the Head of the pre election Caretaker Government. They have also very strong objections to the Election Commission as well and they have alleged that the Commission is biased in favor of the government. The oppositions have, on this ground, brought in proposals for reforms to which the government to-date disagree.

Political analysts think that when Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan, the Secretary General of BNP returns from Singapore , a dialogue might take place between him and the AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil.
