The US ambassador, Patricia A Butenis, on Sunday said that she was hopeful about successful and peaceful election in Bangladesh. She made the observations while talking to journalists during her visit to some puja mandaps in Dhamrai upazila under Dhaka.
The US envoy in Bangladesh categorically said that she doesn’t wish for anything more than everyone here wants or the rest of Bangladesh wants.
She observed that the Hindu community is a valuable part of the population in Bangladesh as it has contributed significantly to the rich diversity of culture and history of this country. The US envoy visited two puja mandaps at East and West Kayetpara and Madhab Mandir—and everywhere she was greeted and treated warmly in the Hindu religious tradition.
