Dr M Zahir, an eminent jurist and an expert on Bangladesh constitution says that in spite of reservations about the way President Iajuddin Ahmed has taken over the responsibility of the Head of a non –partisan caretaker government , now that he has been conditionally accepted by political parties , the onus lies on him to prove that he is a non partisan person.
In an exclusive interview with VOA Bangla , Dr Zahir said that he felt according to the constitutional provision former Chief Justice Mahmudul Amin Chowdhury could be given an offer . He added that although AL had some reasons to doubt the neutrality of Justice K M Hasan , BNP never gave any reasons for not accepting Justice Mahmudul Amin Chowdhury or Justice Hamidul Huq.
Dr Zahir also said that the violence in Bangladesh could be avoided, had Justice Hasan expressed his refusal earlier or had it not been announced that he was indisposed. Dr Zahir added that no where in Justice Hasan’s statement it was mentioned that he was sick .
