President Iajuddin Ahmed of Bangladesh who said in his recent speech to the nation that he would appoint two new election commissioners, has not yet given any such appointments.
In the meantime, while the situation in Bangladesh has returned to normalcy, the 14 party Alliance along with LDP are preparing to stage protests against the Chief Advisor of the Caretaker government. They allege that the Chief Advisor is still behaving a partisan way. They are also scheduled to hold protests in front of the Election Commission. They say that although Justice M A Aziz has gone on leave, the election commission has still not been reconstituted and they have rejected Mahfuzur Rahman as the acting CEC.
On the other hand the four party alliance led by BNP Jamaat accused Awami League 14 party alliance of creating anarchy in the country. They alleged that Awami League is not interested in election.
