Over the last 27 days since the caretaker government in Bangladesh took the reponsibilty of running the government , the demands for creating an atmosphere for a free, fair, acceptable and peaceful election remains far from the sight.

Although some of the demands of 14 party alliance and other political parties have been made including the removal of Justice M A Aziz , the CEC from the election scenario , the alliance claims that with flaws in the voters’ list any attempt to announce election schedule would be resisted. They have asked for a total reforms in the Commission and have said that Justice Mahfazur Rahman , the present acting CEC is unacceptable to them. They have also announced that they would do a sit-in strike in front of Banganhaban , the official resident of President Iajuddin Ahmed and the Office of the Election Commission.

The immediate past ruling BNP led 4 party alliance , on the other hand have been demanding an immediate announcement of election schedule . They allege that Awami League led 14 party alliance are making pretext to biycott election .

In the meantime allegations of planning an election engineering has been made against some high government officials who met allegedly secretly in the house of a former minister Mahmudur Rahman. Mahmud claims it was a private visit by the officials but the officials were found running away from the camera , hiding their faces.
