U.S. Space Shuttle Docks With International Space Station

The U. S. Space Shuttle Discovery has docked with the International Space Station.

Shuttle astronauts are preparing for what the U.S. space agency NASA has called the most complex construction mission to date. The shuttle linked up with the space station late Monday. Astronauts are scheduled to make two spacewalks to rewire the space station's electrical system. After the rewiring, the shuttle will be powered by new solar panels which replace a temporary system in use for the past six years.

The shuttle will also deliver supplies and leave behind a new crew member. Astronaut Sunita Williams will spend the next six months aboard the space station.
