Bangladesh's alliance of political opposition groups is vowing to hold more street protests unless the interim government meets its demands for a free and fair election.
Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad and Liberal Democratic Party President Prof AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury have joined the 14-Party alliance.
In Dhaka on Monday, Awami League leader Sheikh HasinChairman, HM Ershad and LDP President Prof AQM Badruddoza Chowdhury addressed thousands of supporters. Sheikh Hasina said that the 14-party alliance wants to overhaul the election commission by removing some election officials accused of bias and to update eligible voter lists.
Hasina threatened a nationwide strike on Thursday unless the alliance's demands are met.
