Drive Against Corruption Continues in Bangladesh

Former BNP lawmaker Salahuddin Ahmed was sent to jail after his surrender to the chief metropolitan magistrate court in the capital on Monday.

In their anti-crime drives, the army-led joint forces arrested Sylhet unit general secretary of the Awami League, Chhatak municipality chairman and two leaders of the Jamaat-e-Islami in Bagerhat on the day.

Two leaders of the BNP’s Bogra unit, arrested on Sunday for hoarding essentials and alleged theft of relief materials, were sent to jail under the special powers act of 1974. In a separate drive in the capital, the forces detained four employees of the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha for alleged corruption.
