West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadev Bhattacharya Sunday distributed land ownership papers to landless farmers in and around Nandigram area and assured them that not a single inch of land would be acquired by force. 'We will not do anything by force. We will not take an inch by force,'
Bhattacharya said at Khejuri adjoining the trouble torn Nandigram in East Midnapore asking the people to decide what is beneficial for them. Nandigram, about 150 km southwest of Kolkata, had witnessed violence last month following reports of the state government's move to acquire land for an industrial project.
