In a landmark mega-event in the South Asian forum's history, SAARC Car Rally will kick-off from Cox's Bazar bay resort on Thursday to showcase the commonality and diversity of the region.
The cross-border caravan that will cruise through the South Asian countries is also planned as part of an effort to tap the vast potential of intra-SAARC trade, investment and tourism opportunities.
Thirty Tata Safaris, carrying about 120 participants from the SAARC countries, will drive along an 8200-km path, across varying terrain, over a 30-day period.
The rally will be flagged off from the tourist resort by Chief Adviser Fakhruddin Ahmed.
