Cyclone Hits Bangladesh, Damages Crops & Homes

A tropical cyclone has made landfall in southeastern Bangladesh, causing a tidal surge that washed away crops and damaged homes.

Bangladeshi officials say at least 20 fishing boats were reported missing in rough seas in the Bay of Bengal as the cyclone approached on Tuesday morning. One fisherman was confirmed dead in the district of Cox's Bazar.

Officials say a one-point-two-meter-high storm surge flooded shrimp farms and other agricultural facilities. Coastal residents were evacuated to cyclone shelters as a precaution.

Amir Khasru has more on the story.
