35 Killed in Bomb Attack on Afghan Police Bus

A bomb attack on an Afghan police bus killed at least 35 people in Kabul on Sunday.

Taleban militants say they are responsible for the bombing.

Afghan officials say the police academy bus was carrying police instructors when it exploded near a police station in a crowded section of the city. Most of the dead were Afghan policemen. Police and hospital officials say the blast injured at least 30 others.

The attack is one of the deadliest in Kabul since the Taleban was toppled in 2001.

Also on Sunday, officials for the US-led coalition force say a roadside bomb attack killed three coalition members and their Afghan interpreter in the southern province of Kandahar.

The nationalities of the soldiers were not released.

In other violence, Afghan officials say at least five police and 11 Taleban militants were killed overnight in two separate clashes in Herat and Paktia provinces.
